Nice museum to experience and understand the history of Central and South America
This is one of the COOLEST museums I have ever been to anywhere in the world. The “Chile before Chile” exhibit downstairs was breathtaking to see the rich history of the land dating back over 13,000 years. Price is so reasonable at 10,000 pesos, it was not busy, and you can expect to spend ~1 hour here.
This is THE coolest museum I've ever been to. I had only ever seen this stuff in archaeology text books at university, but now I've seen them up close and personal. There were great artifacts ranging from textiles to pottery and statues. Such beautiful art and an impressive facility with helpful staff.
The museum is located directly in the center of Santiago within an area of a lot of old nice buildings.
The most interesting part was in the basement where some parts of the precolombian art was shown also with description in relation of different location and time. In the upper part of the museum of lot of exhibits are shown but with missing additional information. Also no idea was given how to best go through the museum.
Overall for a price of 10000 Pesos for a foreigner the visit was ok.
